Elephantgammon is a live room. You sit at a table, get matched with a real opponent, and play a full game with a cube — in the browser.
How a match starts
- Make an account with your email. We send a code. No password to remember.
- Open the tables. Each room is a stake in Elephantcoins.
- Sit. If someone is already waiting, you play them. If not, you wait.
- Opening roll decides who starts. Then it is backgammon: hit, dance, cube, bear off.
What makes this live
This is not a puzzle against a computer. The person across the board is another visitor. You can watch games from the lobby while they are in progress. Chat sits next to the board so you can talk during the match.
The cube is in play. You can double; they can take or drop. Recubes are allowed. A gammon is worth twice the cube, a backgammon three times.
Elephantcoins
Stakes are in Elephantcoins so the table has a number, not cash. New accounts start with a bankroll. Claim a little more each day. You need enough coins to sit at a stake, the same as bringing chips to a table.

- Real match play. Dice, hitting, bearing off, and a doubling cube. Gammons pay 2× the cube and backgammons pay 3×.

- No. Tables use Elephantcoins, a play currency. You can claim a daily amount once you have an account.
- Can I play on my phone?
- Yes. The board is built for phones and computers. No download.
